George W Bush scare as man drives his car 'erratically' into former president's front yard

Car Crash Sparks President Bush Security Scare: MyFoxPHOENIX.com

Former President George W. Bush got an unwanted early Christmas present on Wednesday night.

When a neighbor's car crashed on to former President George W. Bush's front lawn in north Dallas, the Secret Service went on high alert.

But it turns out Wednesday night's scare was simply the case of a stuck gas pedal.

The man, who had permission to drive a classic high-performance "muscle" car on the gated street in the upscale Preston Hollow neighborhood, told agents and police that he simply lost control of the vehicle.

At first, the 8:15 p.m. call was classified as an "executive threat" because the former president was at home. Bush was not hurt.

The car crashed into the lawn and damaged some flowerbeds and turf. The house was not damaged. The car, however, had severe damage to the driver's side front quarter panel.

In addition to the Secret Service, Dallas police officers and K9 officers responded to the scene.

The driver was not injured. He was questioned and released by the Secret Service.
