Brooklyn - Off-duty NYPD officer kills man

Today's shooting scene in Brooklyn

An off-duty cop shot and killed a man in Brooklyn Thursday morning, police sources said.

The confrontation, which occurred at 4:18 a.m. at 78 Hemlock St. in Cypress Hills, stemmed from a carjacking, sources said.

The suspect was shot in the face and rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.

The incident occurred in the 75th Precinct, but the officer involved is not assigned to that stationhouse, sources said. He was not injured.

The incident is the third police-involved shooting in the 75th Precinct in less than two months.

Officer Peter Figoski was killed during a botched robbery last month and a marijuana dealer was killed by a on-duty officer earlier this month.
